GoodLeap Home Improvement Loans
GoodLeap financing loans extend beyond solar into every major sustainable home upgrade: HVAC, heat pumps, roofing, windows, doors, siding, EV chargers, smart home, water heating, and water efficiency projects. Here is how each category works.
What GoodLeap Home Improvement Loans Cover
GoodLeap home improvement loans are point-of-sale financing products: you do not apply directly on the GoodLeap website. Instead, your contractor (HVAC installer, roofer, window company) is enrolled in the GoodLeap partner network and offers the loan as a payment option during the sales call. Approval decisions arrive in minutes, documents are signed electronically, and funds are released to the contractor in stages as the project is completed.
Eligible Project Categories
HVAC & Heat Pumps
Replacement central air conditioning, furnaces, ductless mini-splits, air-source and ground-source heat pumps. Typical loan amount 7,500 to 35,000 dollars.
Roofing
Full roof replacement, often bundled with a solar panel loan under one GoodLeap financing agreement. Terms up to 25 years.
Windows & Doors
Energy-efficient window replacement and entry-door upgrades. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) ended for windows and doors placed in service after December 31, 2025.
Siding
Insulated siding and whole-home envelope upgrades, typically financed under a 10-to-20-year term.
EV Chargers
Level 2 home EV charging station installation, sometimes bundled with solar and battery storage financing.
Smart Home
Smart thermostats, home energy monitoring, and connected lighting. Often included as part of a larger energy-efficiency package.
Water Heating
Heat-pump water heaters, tankless gas water heaters, and solar water heating systems.
Water Efficiency
Low-flow fixtures, greywater systems, and whole-home water filtration. Smaller loan amounts, shorter terms.
GoodLeap Home Improvement Loan Structures
Home improvement loans use the same four loan structures as GoodLeap solar: standard installment, promotional-period loans (interest-only or principal-only phases), re-amortization products, and the Go Green Refi option. The dealer fee works the same way: your contractor rolls 15% to 30% of the project cost into the amount you finance, so the APR you see is applied to the inflated figure, not the cash price.
Promotional-period loans: read the terms carefully
Some GoodLeap home improvement loans offer a 0% interest period for the first 12 to 24 months. If the loan is not paid in full during that period, GoodLeap can apply the full accrued interest from the loan origination date retroactively — meaning the balance can jump by several thousand dollars at the end of the promotional window. This is the single most common complaint on Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau for GoodLeap home improvement loans.

| EV charger | Level 2 home charging | Whether a panel upgrade is included |
| Heat pump water heater | Replacement water heating | Cash price and dealer fee |
GoodLeap does not publish home improvement rates or loan limits. Terms vary by contractor program, so ask for the amount financed and total of payments in writing.
What works
- Covers HVAC, roofing, windows, EV, water, smart home
- Fast point-of-sale approval through contractors
- Promotional-period loan options available
- No prepayment penalty
- Nationwide availability
What to watch
- Cannot apply directly without a contractor
- Promotional-period loans can backfire with retroactive interest
- Dealer fee inflates financed amount
- Contractor-driven sales process limits comparison shopping
Good for homeowners financing an HVAC, roofing or window project through a contractor they already trust. Skip it if you want to compare lenders before choosing a contractor, or if a promotional loan might outlast your ability to pay it off.
How to Apply for GoodLeap Home Improvement Financing
You cannot apply directly on the GoodLeap website for home improvement loans. The application has to come through a GoodLeap-partnered contractor. Here is the realistic sequence:
- Request quotes from several HVAC, roofing, or window contractors.
- Ask each contractor whether they offer GoodLeap financing. Note which do.
- Compare the total financed amount, APR, and dealer fee, not just the monthly payment.
- Ask the contractor whether a promotional-period loan is being offered, and what happens if you do not pay off the balance before the promotional period ends.
- Compare the GoodLeap offer against a personal loan from a licensed lender you can apply to directly.
